Karachi: The postponement of the ongoing matriculation exams in the city due to a possible heat wave has raised fears that the annual intermediate exams will be affected and there is a strong possibility that the exams scheduled to begin in Karachi from May 28 will be affected due to non-availability of examination centers. The annual examinations of the first and second inter-years should also be postponed for a few days.

Sources of the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (Matriculation Board) told “Express” that at least 21 such examination centers have come up in Karachi where examination centers have been set up for the annual matriculation examinations, while for the intermediate examinations starting from May 28. In the annual exams also there will be Science Group (Pre-Engineering/Pre-Medical) and Science General Papers in the same examination centers in the morning and evening.

On the other hand, the ongoing annual matriculation examinations have been stopped from May 21 to 27, so these papers will now resume according to the new schedule at the same examination centers where the Inter examinations are scheduled from May 28, due to which the Intermediate Board has a few A new schedule may have to be issued by postponing its papers for the day.

Sources said that the matriculation board will try to dispose of the postponed 6-day papers by June 2 or 3, but during this time it will be impossible to conduct the intermediate examinations at all the relevant 21 examination centers.

He said that if the matriculation board administration changes its centers from these 21 centers at the time of rescheduling of the postponed papers, then thousands of students will face difficulties and the students will be affected by the sudden change of the already running examination centers. Serious difficulties may arise.

On the other hand, an officer of the Higher Secondary Education Board said that if the exams are started from May 28 as per the released schedule and the matriculation board does not transfer the exam centers from here, then the exams will not be possible at these 21 exam centers. If the Inter Board itself changes the examination centers, there are no other educational institutions around these 21 centers where these examination centers should be shifted.

The officer said that the names of the examination centers are also written on the admit cards issued by the board in the colleges, so a decision in this regard is expected on Wednesday.

According to the sources, Comprehensive Higher Secondary School North Nazimabad, Comprehensive Higher Secondary School Federal B Area, Hussaini High Secondary School Nazimabad and Bahria Foundation are other such educational institutions where matriculation and inter examination centers will be held as per the already given schedule. are made.
