Rawalpindi: A widow and her daughters were tortured by their father-in-law over a property dispute in the Sher Zaman Colony area of ​​Police Station Civil Line, while Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz took notice of the matter.

According to Express News, the issue of abuse and threats to the widow and her daughters was due to the landlord, however, the police arrested the accused and started legal proceedings and a report has also been sent to the Chief Minister of Punjab.

Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz had taken notice of the incident of alleged torture and threatening of a widow and two sons with a shovel in Rawalpindi’s Sher Zaman Colony and sought a report from the Inspector General (IG) Punjab.

On the notice of Chief Minister Punjab, SSP Operation Rawalpindi Hafiz Kamran and DSP Civil Line reached the victim’s house and collected the facts.

Punjab Police spokesman said that the woman’s husband Syed Azhar Ali died 10 years ago and the deceased’s 60-year-old brother Riaz Ali Shah got married two years ago and is also living in the same house.

The spokesman said that there is a property dispute between the parties and the matter is under hearing in the court, but the accused Riyaz Ali Shah attacked his late brother’s widow with a shovel and the other brother also threatened over the phone.

Rawalpindi Police has arrested and registered a case against Deor Riaz Shah involved in the violence and has also started action against another Deor Iftikhar Shah and SSP Operations Rawalpindi Hafiz Kamran has assured to provide full protection to the widow.
