Punjab cabinet approved to provide 20 thousand electric bikes to students

Lahore: The Punjab Cabinet has given approval to provide 20 thousand electric bikes to the students.

The third cabinet meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif in which provincial ministers, advisers, chief secretary, IG Punjab Police, secretaries and other relevant officers participated. In the meeting, approval of the annual budget and supplementary budget grant for the year 2023-24 was approved.

The cabinet also approved the trial of founder PTI and Shah Mehmood Qureshi from Attock Jail in Adiala Jail and increasing the number of law officers in the province to 66.

The cabinet also approved the plan to supply 20,000 electric bikes on behalf of Punjab Bank, reducing the down payment to 25,000 and the monthly installment will be less than 5,000 to reduce the burden on students.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that the distribution of bikes will be started from May this year, and a separate scheme will be introduced for students who have achieved significant success in the examinations.

Maryam Nawaz said that electric bikes are necessary to reduce environmental pollution but are currently not suitable due to battery theft and low mileage. It has been decided to give petrol bikes along with electric bikes.

The cabinet also approved the handover of Lahore Knowledge Park to the Punjab Central Business District Authority, the land to be transferred to the CBD to build Pakistan’s largest IT city. In the Knowledge City, the world’s leading educational institutions will be invited to build a campus where the Film City will also be located.

Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz directed to complete the two towers of IT City in one year and said that Pakistan’s first IT City is being built in Lahore, tech giants like Google and Microsoft have expressed interest in IT City.

In the Punjab Cabinet meeting, approval was given in principle to extend the appointment of CEO Punjab Transport Company on deputation.

Punjab Air Ambulance Project was reviewed in the meeting. Maryam Nawaz said that there are all the facilities for the big people, nothing to save the life of the poor man, they want to provide every facility of timely treatment to their people.
