Heavy rains wreaked havoc in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo, 36 people died in various accidents due to floods and landslides.
According to a foreign news agency, Sao Paulo area of Sao Sebastiao is under water and houses built on rocks have collapsed in landslides.
Falling trees have destroyed vehicles and flooded highways, more than 300 people have been evacuated from coastal areas and 250 people have been displaced.
According to media reports, the governor of Sao Paulo declared a state of emergency in the five affected cities.
