Rawalpindi: Pakistan Army and civil administration rescued 20 vehicles and their passengers stuck due to landslides on the Karakoram Highway and shifted them to Chilas.
According to the Public Relations Department of the Pakistan Army (ISPR), due to continuous rain for 36 hours in Diamar district on March 2 and 3, landslides occurred on the Karakoram Highway and transportation was completely blocked at several places.
According to ISPR, on this occasion, the Pakistan Army made effective efforts to provide immediate assistance to the passengers and vehicles stuck in the Karakoram Highway on behalf of the GB Scouts and the doctor traveling from Rawalpindi to Gilgit was rescued with his family.
Besides, 20 people trapped in vehicles were rescued and shifted to Chilas. According to ISPR, Gilgit-Baltistan scouts provided food items and medicines to the passengers while FWO and civil administration also participated in the road clearance operation along with Pakistan Army.
According to ISPR, the help of drones was also taken to make the operation on the Karakoram Highway more effective and the timely rescue operation by the Pakistan Army and the civil administration has been highly appreciated by the affected families.
