Lahore: Despite the ban, the bloody sport of bear and dog fighting could not be ended in South Punjab.
On Sunday, a video of a bear and dog fighting in Taunsa district of Dera Ghazi Khan surfaced, on which DG Punjab Wildlife issued instructions to investigate the incident and take action against the accused.
The video received by Express News on Sunday is from Basti Dona in Taunsa Sharif, where locals staged a bloody bear and dog fight. A large number of people gathered to watch this bloody game.
It should be noted that under the Punjab Wildlife Act, there is a ban on such sports spectacles, while holding bear and dog fights is a crime, but despite this, the series of animal fighting games has not been stopped.
In this bloody game, 3-4 dogs are released to fight with the bear while the bear is controlled with a rope by placing a nickel in its nose. The dogs attack and injure the bear. Spectators applaud the screams of the injured and forced bear.
According to reports, DG Punjab Wildlife has ordered Assistant Director Wildlife Taunsa Sharif to conduct an immediate inquiry and take action against the accused after receiving the information about the incident.
