Why are Rangers and police silent on the bad law and order situation? Sindh Chief Minister

Karachi: The caretaker chief minister of Sindh was furious over the bad law and order situation in Sindh province, especially in the city of Quaid.

Caretaker Chief Minister Sindh Justice (R) Maqbool Baqir has said in a letter written to IG Police and DG Rangers that despite the deteriorating law and order situation, why are the law enforcement agencies still silent? Ensure the protection of the fundamental rights of citizens enshrined in the Constitution at all costs.

The Caretaker Chief Minister said that the recent increase in crime in rural areas including big cities of Sindh is alarming. Incidents of street crime in Karachi are increasing daily, newspapers and electronic media are constantly highlighting all the crimes, attacks on election candidates and kidnappings in broad daylight have also been reported.

The Caretaker Chief Minister of Sindh said that women, children and the elderly in the society are suffering a lot from these crimes, journalists, lawyers, doctors, businessmen and other professionals are facing threats of life and property. Urgent measures should be taken to stop the rising tide of crime in the province.

On the other hand, after the expression of indignation by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Maqbool Baqir, Karachi Police has started preparing lists to arrest the extortionists.

Karachi Police has started getting the records of more than 50 small and big extortionists while the records of the extortionists jailed in extortion cases are also being obtained.

Karachi Police has started identifying and collecting the phone numbers of accused involved in regional level extortion cases including Lyari gang war, network of extortionists in Iran and Afghanistan.

Sources of the Central Police Office have said that IG Sindh Rifat Mukhtar Raja has issued orders to the intelligence officers posted in the Special Branch, Crime Branch and districts to compile records of small and big extortionists.

The details of the gang-war gangs that reside in Lyari are also being obtained. The cases of extortion in the districts of West, Lyari, East, Korangi, Malir are also being investigated.

Identification of the accused involved in high-profile cases of extortion, their phone numbers, home addresses and other information are being collected so that serious incidents of extortion and street crime can be curbed by arresting them.

Second, the Karachi police are not serious about extortion and street crime, that’s why in just 16 days of this year, 6 people have been killed by street criminals and more than 20 people have been injured by street criminals.

Many claims have been made to improve the law and order situation in the caretaker government and appointments have been made on merit in important positions of the Karachi Police, but despite this, the citizens of Karachi are insecure.
