The three-day Karachi Literature Festival got off to a colorful start

Karachi: The three-day Karachi Literature Festival started in Karachi under the auspices of Oxford University Press.

According to Express News, more than 60 events will be organized in the festival, including sessions on geopolitical challenges and climate change.

Well-known social personality and founder of SIUT Dr. Adeebul Hasan Rizvi attended the inauguration ceremony of KLF as Chief Guest.

In his speech, Dr. Adeebul Hasan Rizvi emphasized the importance of education and said that education and health care are very important and our nation can be prosperous only when we pay attention to education and health care.

Speaking on this occasion, Federal Minister for Climate Change Sherry Rehman said that literature has been affected due to the censorship policy, there is a need to work in Urdu literature for climate change and changes, climate change is still a threat to the government and people. I have not understood, the country is definitely suffering from difficult situations, but we can get out of these difficulties by taking advantage of our resources.

Managing Director Oxford University Press Pakistan Arshad Saeed Hussain said that Karachi Literature Festival is a beacon of hope that brings together participants from Pakistan and the world. The theme of the 14th edition of the literary festival, “People, Planet, Opportunities” reflects the ever-challenging times.

Seven books were shortlisted for the KLF Getz Pharma Urdu Prose Award, including Irfan Javed’s Muse Khana, Dr Aurangzeb Niazi’s Environmental Perspective and Shaheen Abbasi’s Kahani Kafir. Irfan Javed’s book Muzajkhana was declared the winner.

The opening ceremony concluded with a spectacular performance by Farah Yasmeen Shaikh on the dance Shakar.

Several sessions were held on the first day of the festival in which various literary and social personalities expressed their views. The festival will continue for two more days in Shahr Quaid.
