Islamabad / Peshawar: At the Torkham border terminal, customs and security forces recovered modern American weapons from sacks full of onions while checking a vehicle coming from Afghanistan to Pakistan.
The Afghan driver has been detained and important revelations are expected during the investigation.
Among the recovered weapons are modern American-made M4, Kalashnikov, magazines, thousands of different types of bullets, American rifle grenades, night vision sights and laser beams.
Pakistan’s smuggling of modern American weapons from Afghanistan and the TTP’s use of American weapons against the security forces and the Pakistani people are a big question mark on the Afghan Interim Government’s claims of not being used against its own soil, Pakistan.
Pakistan expects Afghanistan to take concrete steps against TTP and stop illegal arms smuggling.
Even in the past, evidence of the use of foreign weapons and Afghan terrorists in terrorist incidents in Pakistan has come to light.
