The pick order for the HBL PSL 9 draft has been finalised. Quetta Gladiators will be the first pick in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 Players Draft.
In this regard, it was stated in the announcement that Karachi Kings and two-time champion Islamabad will pick the second and third place players, while the fourth and fifth pick will go to Peshawar Zalmi and the runners-up of the previous event, Multan Sultans.
The champions of the last two editions, Lahore Qalandars, will be the last to pick the players.
The selection order for the first round of Platinum is determined by the reverse order of the previous season’s standings. To make the pick order more fair, a different franchise will make the first pick in the first round of each category.
Quetta Gladiators will launch the platinum pick, Karachi Kings will have the first diamond pick, Peshawar Zalmi will have the first gold pick, Multan Sultans will have the first pick in the silver category, Islamabad United will pick the first player in the emerging category and Lahore Qalandars will pick the first player in the emerging category. Pass will be the first supplementary pick.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has already opened the registration window for foreign players.
It should be noted that this flagship event of Pakistan is scheduled from February 8 to March 24, 2024.
Franchises will now submit relegation requests for players before finalizing retention.
After relegation requests, all teams will have the opportunity to match the basic category of players. If a player’s base category does not match, they may be relegated to a category below their base category.
The HBL PSL 9 draft is scheduled to take place in mid-December immediately after the conclusion of the National Twenty20.
