According to ICC, it has become the biggest event in the history of cricket in terms of number of fans.
The ICC milestone of 1 million spectators was crossed in the match between South Africa and Afghanistan, which was played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The World Cup still has semi-finals on November 15 and 16 and the final on November 19.
ICC Events Head Chris Tetley says the record attendance is a testament to the interest of fans in the ODI cricket format.
