A health emergency has been imposed in Balochistan after an increase in Congo virus cases.

A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Caretaker Chief Minister Ali Mardan Domki regarding the Congo virus.

Caretaker Chief Minister Balochistan Ali Mardan Domki told the meeting that health emergency has been implemented in Balochistan.

While giving a briefing about the Congo virus in the meeting, it was said that according to preliminary evidence, the virus has spread from a patient belonging to Harnai in the civil hospital.

It was informed in the meeting that the affected ward of Civil Hospital has been sealed while other departments have been disinfected under special measures.

Secretary Health has said that samples of 112 people including doctors, medical staff, patients have been obtained.

He said that the situation is under control, further spread of Congo virus has been stopped.

According to the hospital administration, the number of people who died of Congo virus in Balochistan this year has reached 18.

Caretaker Chief Minister Balochistan Ali Mardan Domki has said that 44 cases of Congo virus have been reported in Balochistan so far.

He said that 2 more health care workers infected with Congo virus are being transferred to Karachi by air ambulance today.

Ali Mardan Domki directed the Livestock Department to immediately spray disinfectants in the cattle markets.

He has informed that standard treatment of all the victims is being done at the expense of Balochistan government.

The government declared Dr. Shukrullah as a martyr and announced benefits for his survivors.

The caretaker Chief Minister has directed all Divisional Commissioners, DHOs and Livestock Officers to keep a close watch on the situation.

In the meeting, it was also decided to ban private slaughterhouses in Quetta for 2 weeks under Section 144.

It has also been decided in the meeting that animals can be slaughtered in slaughterhouses away from the civilian population.
