A man who received a pig heart transplant in America died 6 weeks later.
According to US media reports, Lawrence, 58, was the second person to receive a pig heart transplant. He died due to heart failure.
Meanwhile, Lawrence’s widow said, “My husband knew he didn’t have much time left. Lawrence’s transplant was his last chance to contribute to the field of advancement in medical science.”
It should be noted that Lawrence’s heart was transplanted in September this year.
Lawrence was recovering rapidly after the operation when he suddenly developed heart failure and stopped working.
The operation of transplanting a pig’s heart into a human body was performed by Dr. Mansoor Mohiuddin and Dr. Griffith. Dr. Mansoor Mohiuddin, who performed the operation, belongs to Karachi.
It should be noted that the first operation to transplant a pig’s heart into a human body took place in January 2022.
