The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) expressed concern over the increase in positive environmental samples of polio and said that if responsibility is not realized, more cases will be reported, more sanctions will be faced at the global level.
According to the PMA, 11 new samples of polio have been reported in other areas including Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, Bannu, Pishin and Chaman, after which the number of positive environmental samples in the country has reached 54 this year.
Pakistan Medical Association further says that unfortunately 4 cases of polio have been reported so far this year. Vaccination certificate made mandatory.
The association says that if responsibility is not realized, more cases will be reported and more sanctions will be faced at the global level. PMA also advised to run a campaign through media for public awareness.
