The US Army’s ‘Best Squad Competition’ is underway in which participating personnel are fitted with a health monitoring device.
The device was developed by the Army’s Medical Material Development Activity team.
12 squads from 12 commands of the US Army are participating in the competition with 60 personnel.
All these personnel will continue to wear the ‘Health Readiness and Performance System (HRAPS)’ device throughout the competition.
The device consists of a lightweight transmitter that is affixed to the chest.
Data obtained from this device will continue to be transmitted to other devices by military officers and medical professionals.
Emily Krohn, the official of the team that developed this system, said that in this military exercise we got a good opportunity to test not only the performance of the personnel but also our device.
He said that this device will provide military commanders with information about their health and performance during training and combat operations.
