In the Asian Games volleyball competitions, Pakistan has qualified for the quarter-finals by defeating South Korea 0-3. With this victory, Pakistan finished in the top 6 in the Asian Games after 28 years.
World No. 51 Pakistan outclassed World No. 27 South Korea and won 0-3 in the top 12 round of volleyball at the ongoing Asian Games in Hangzhou.
In the first set, the competition between the two started in a sensational manner, sometimes one team would take the lead and sometimes the other team would take the lead.
However, Pakistan managed to control their nerves and won the first set 19-25 after 26 minutes.
In the second set as well, it was a nail-biter between the two, which was tied at 17 all, but here again in the last minute, Pakistan controlled the errors and won the second set 22-25 to take the lead in the match.
In the third set, the match was tied at 7-7 at one point in the second set, but then Pakistan took the lead. Pakistan won the 28-minute third set 21-25. Pakistan’s Usman Frayad and Murad Khan performed brilliantly.
Usman scored 20 and Murad 19 points, while Abdul Zaheer, Maswar Khan and Murad Jahan also gave outstanding performances.
With this win, Pakistan made it to the top 6 teams in the event for the first time since 1994. Pakistan will face Qatar in the quarter-finals on Sunday and will face Iran in the semi-finals if they win.
