Dao University of Health Sciences has decided to import anti-rabies vaccine from neighboring China.
According to officials of Dao University of Health Sciences, the dog bite vaccine will be ordered from China and packaged here.
According to Professor Saeed Qureshi, anti-rabies vaccine will be imported from China and given on the basis of ‘no profit no loss’.
Officials at Dow University of Health Sciences have said that importing vaccines from China is facing resistance from the drug regulatory authority.
He further said that Pakistan is currently importing a large amount of anti-rabies vaccine from India.
Dow University of Health Sciences also says that only the National Institutes of Health is making limited quantities of the anti-rabies vaccine locally.
It should be noted that more than 1 million people are bitten by dogs every year in Pakistan due to which 5 to 6 thousand people die of rabies every year.
