Pakistan U-16 football team got permission from sports board to travel to Bhutan.
The Ministry of External Affairs and Home Affairs issued the NOC late on Tuesday night and on Thursday the Sports Board has also given clearance to the team. The SAF officials have advanced the start of the tournament by one day for the convenience of Pakistan.
The Pakistan U-16 football team was supposed to leave for Bhutan on Tuesday to participate in the SAAF Championship, but the team could not go due to non-receipt of NOC.
After continuous delay, the PFF had said yesterday that they were withdrawing from the tournament, but after the intervention of the previous government’s special assistant Shaza Fatima, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Interior issued the NOC for the team late at night, then on Wednesday. IPC and Sports Board also gave clearance.
The PFF reversed the decision and announced the participation in the tournament and the team will now belatedly depart for Bhutan from Lahore on Thursday morning.
On the other hand, for the convenience of the Pakistan team, the SAAF authorities have reduced the rest of the tournament by one day and advanced its opening by one day. Now Pakistan will play matches on September 2 and 4 instead of September 1 and 3. The tournament will continue from September 2 to 10.
