80 female players have called a strike over the president of the Spanish Football Federation kissing a female player.
According to a statement released by the Women’s Players’ Union (Futpro), 80 other women players, including Jenny Hermoso, have announced that they will continue the strike until the current leadership of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) is dismissed.
It should be noted that the women’s players’ union made this announcement after the current president of the Spanish Football Federation, Luis Rubiales, issued an apology and refused to resign from his position.

Admitting his mistake, he added, “I must apologize and learn from this incident. I must understand that when you are in the position of president, you have to show more responsibility.”
However, Luis Rubiales apologized and said that he had sought permission from the female player before kissing, including Jenny Hermoso’s consent, after which the controversy escalated.
The female player, Jenny Hermoso, later made it clear in her released statement that it did not involve her consent, but rather that she felt intimidated and harassed at the time.

They say that as long as the current leadership remains in place, all the striking players will not be part of any national squad.
