Lahore: The High Court suspended the decision declaring the move to give agricultural land to the army as illegal.

A hearing was held on the appeal of the Punjab government against the decision of the single bench regarding giving agricultural land to the army, in which a 2-member bench of the Lahore High Court suspended the decision of the single bench. It should be noted that the single bench had declared illegal the move of giving land to the army for agricultural purposes.

A 2-member bench headed by Justice Ali Baqer Najafi heard the appeal of the Punjab government, which said that there is a contradiction in the judgment, the petitioner is not an aggrieved party. It is not the responsibility of the courts to regulate agricultural policies. The single bench declared the notification of allotment of land to the army as illegal.

In its appeal, the Punjab government maintained that according to law, the caretaker government can complete any incomplete initiative or policy of the previous government. The plan was not started by the caretaker government, it was started by the elected government before that. The Lahore High Court is requested to annul the decision of the single bench to declare the notification of giving the land to the army null and void.
