Unbalanced consumption of meat is harmful to health, experts

Karachi: Balanced consumption of sacrificial meat is highly important for citizens to avoid complex health problems, including food-borne disease, Functional Bowel Disease (FBD).

This was stated by Aga Khan University Professor of Medicine Dr. SM Waseem Jafari on Friday at Dr. Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (PCMD), University of Karachi under the public awareness program “Health Issues on Eid al-Adha”. Dr. Panjwani said during a lecture held in the seminar room of the center on the subject.

The lecture was organized in collaboration with Dr. Panjwani Center, University of Karachi and Sindh Innovation, Research and Education Network (SIREN). Professor Waseem Jafri said that eating undercooked or contaminated meat increases the risk of functional bowel disease or FBD.

They have said that diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain, nausea, fever, fatigue, back or joint pain are symptoms of FBD disease.

He said that this disease includes many diseases which is a growing public health problem in the world which is sometimes fatal. Due to this, complicated diseases like cholera, hepatitis A, typhoid fever occur.

FBD disease is divided into two categories, one is FBD infection and the other is FBD intoxication. He said that the role of sanitation is very important in the prevention of food borne diseases.

Foodborne illness can be prevented by a few important precautions, including washing hands and surfaces frequently, cooking food separately, maintaining specific cooking temperatures, immediate refrigeration, and good personal hygiene. Take care of.

He further said that it is important for the citizens to consume a balanced diet on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha to avoid various health-related diseases.
