Peshawar: The Health Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued guidelines regarding the prevention of heat waves in the entire province, instructions have been given to make cooling zones in hospitals.

The guidelines state that all hospitals in the province should prepare a heatwave action plan and cooling zones should be established in all hospitals where the system should be formally checked daily.

The Health Department has issued an official official notification. The guidelines state that heat waves pose a serious health risk. Arrangements should be made to protect the patients, staff and other visitors coming to the hospital from heat wave, provision of immediate medical assistance.

The statement said that the Meteorological Department should be contacted regarding the severity of the weather and regular check-ups of cooling systems, air-conditioners, provision of clean water, training of staff, monitoring of high-risk patients should be done in hospitals.

The guidelines state that heat wave prevention awareness among the general public, coordination with local health offices, emergency response preparation, post-heat wave facility response assessment, reduction of outdoor activities schedule should be adopted.
