The pre-Hajj operation was completed with the flight of the national airline (PIA) operating from Karachi to Jeddah.
A total of 61,467 pilgrims departed for the Holy Hijaz through 268 flights, about 41,000 government pilgrims, 19,000 private pilgrims and 600 Khudam departed from Medina and Jeddah.
Direct flights depart from Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore Multan, Faisalabad, Sialkot and Peshawar.
From Sukkur, Rahim Yar Khan and Quetta, pilgrims traveled to Jeddah via Karachi.
It may be recalled that PIA’s pre-Hajj operation started from May 21 and continued till June 22.
This year, the on-time departure ratio of PIA Hajj flights was 94 percent.
Out of 268 flights, 249 flights departed on time or shortly before time while only 19 flights were delayed due to various reasons in the entire Hajj operation.
CEOPIA congratulated the concerned teams for the high ratio of timely departure in the Hajj operation.
PIA’s post-Hajj operation will start from July 2 and will continue till August 2.
