Olympian javelin Tharoor Arshad Nadeem has been ruled out of next month’s athletics championships due to a knee injury.
Arshad Nadeem’s unfitness was revealed by Pakistan Athletics Federation President Akram Sahi in a press conference held in Lahore.
He said that Arshad Nadeem is not fit for the Asian Athletics Championship, which is a big blow for the country.
Akram Sahi added that Arshad Nadeem should not have participated in the National Games, we had told him not to participate on behalf of WAPDA.
He said that our words were not accepted and Arshad Nadeem was injured for the sake of a medal, we should think of Pakistan first.
The president of Pakistan Athletics Federation also said that Arshad Nadeem should have taken the decision himself and decided not to participate but he is an employee and could not resist much.
He said that the athletic track was also not right where Arshad Nadeem was unfit and we had pointed it out.
Olympian Arshad Nadeem said that the training was going well, if he had not been fit, he would have won the gold medal with a record.
“Unfortunately, I got unfit, my right knee is now a problem, while my left knee is now fine,” he said.
