It has been revealed that private hospitals in Islamabad are not treating HIV infected people.
Health experts say that only the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Islamabad, is the last refuge for HIV-infected people, where they are being treated.
HIV positive patients from Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gilgit Baltistan, Azad Kashmir are also forced to come to Islamabad.
Experts said that most private hospitals across Pakistan do not admit HIV patients, HIV-infected patients are discriminated against.
Officials of the Federal Ministry of Health say that they are aware of the difficulties faced by HIV-infected people in treatment, and are making efforts to protect HIV victims from discrimination.
Officials said that healthcare commissions and healthcare authorities can take action for non-provision of treatment facilities.
