Rawalpindi: The High Court annulled the two-time death sentence awarded to the accused who killed a 9-year-old girl after raping her.
The Rawalpindi Division Bench of the High Court acquitted the accused on technical grounds, while the 7-year prison sentence awarded to accused Babar Masih’s wife Kavita alias Anika for concealing evidence was also annulled.
The accused had killed the 9-year-old student Zainab in Jhanda Chichi area after forcibly raping her.
Police Civil Line registered a case of the incident on March 22, 2021, on the protest of the citizens, the badly injured body of the student was recovered from under the big bed in the bedroom of the accused.
