New research suggests proper hand-washing techniques, including fingers, back of hand, liquid hand soap and amount of sanitizer.

New research findings suggest that the amount of alcohol-based hand sanitizers commonly used to disinfect hands is not enough. Take the right amount and rub it on your fingers and the backs of your hands for 30 to 35 seconds.

Every year, May 5, is celebrated as World Hand Hygiene Day, the findings from the new research were also published in the form of a report last May 5 in the journal Antimicrobial Resistance & Infection Control.

In this report, researchers from Budapest’s Semmelweis University and Óbuda University warn that thousands of people around the world lose their lives due to hospital-acquired infections. has also been declared insufficient.

Researchers have observed that fingers and the back of hands are often left out during the hand disinfection process.

According to researchers, sanitizers, whether in gel or liquid form, leave some germs and bacteria on both hands without cleaning them.

Researchers report that using gel leaves hands dirty by up to 7 percent, while liquid-based sanitizers leave hands dirty by up to 5.8 percent.

In contrast, gel and liquid-based hand sanitizers with 3 ml volume clean hands better, with lower volume failing to completely disinfect hands.

The researchers in the new report also described the current WHO guidelines on hand washing as inadequate, saying that 3 ml of hand sanitizer should be rubbed into the palm of the hand for at least 20-30 seconds.

The study also stated that hand size is also important in hygiene, 1.5 ml per hand is not adequate, people with large hands should use 3 ml or more according to the size of their hands. By which the backs of their hands, fingers, inner part of the fingers and the whole (fingertips) are completely wet and washed.
