Japan has made preparations to shoot down the wreckage of North Korea’s spy satellite.
According to international media reports, Japan has activated missile interceptors and is preparing to shoot down any pieces of North Korean satellites that may land on Japanese soil.
Defense Minister Yasukazu Hamada on Saturday directed the military to prepare PAC-3 surface-to-air missiles in southwestern Japan.
Okinawa and its nearby islands are areas believed to be under the flight path of a North Korean rocket that would carry a satellite.
According to a ministry statement, he also ordered the deployment of destroyers equipped with SM-3 surface-to-air missiles in coastal waters.
He says that we are making necessary preparations due to the possibility of ordering the destruction of ballistic missiles and other items.
Hamada instructed the troops to “take necessary measures to limit the damage in case of ballistic missile fall.”
