Due to shortage of dollars in the country, payments to Independent Power Plants (IPPs) have stopped.

Central Power Purchasing Agency sources say that the arrears of Chinese IPPs under CPEC have reached one and a half billion dollars.

According to sources, payments to China’s coal-fired power plants are on hold.

CPPA sources say that when there are no dollars, where to pay, they are aware of the problems faced by coal-based IPPs due to non-payment.

According to sources, the situation will improve only if dollars are available.

Sources say that under CPEC, coal-fired power plants have been installed in Sahiwal, Port Qasim and Hub.
