Rawalpindi: FIA Commercial Banking Circle Islamabad arrested the group operating the referral handi while conducting an operation in Rawalpindi.
According to officials, FIA Commercial Banking Circle conducted a raid in Mohanpura Rawalpindi and arrested 5 people working as Hawala Handi. Two of the accused belong to Afghanistan while three belong to Landi Kotal area of Khyber Agency district.
An amount of 2 crore 7 lakh 50 thousand rupees was recovered from the possession of the accused. Apart from the money, a huge number of reference handbook records, laptop mobile phones, check books, deposit slips were also seized. A case has been registered against all the five accused. The accused used to collect money for China and Afghanistan reference handi from Rawalpindi, Lahore, Fatehpur, Chowk Azam Sukkur.
Officials further said that solar, hosiery and electronics businesses make their payments in China through this group. It has also been revealed that there are 33 bank accounts of the accused in Rawalpindi. It has also been decided to include all business persons on record in the investigation.
