The influential officers and principals of the college education department took up residence in the colleges

Karachi: The influential officers and principals of the college education department have chosen government colleges for their accommodation, the matter has intensified due to the helplessness and turning a blind eye on the matter on the part of the authorities.

“Express” has learned that the education officers and principals have taken up residence in at least three major government colleges of Karachi, have got rooms for their comfort and accommodation in the colleges and have allotted the houses in some colleges in their own names.

One of them is Girls College Khatun Pakistan where male officers are using the government colleges as accommodation for female students.

However, they are unable to take any clear stand or take action on the matter as the resident officers are far more influential than them.

“Express” contacted the Acting Principal of Khatun Pakistan Professor Farida in this regard and she confirmed the residence of male officers in Khatun Pakistan College.

However, he said that Sindh Education Minister has visited the college on this issue, now she has gone and we staff members are busy in the meeting in this regard, so we are not in a position to say anything immediately, they should be contacted later. Later, several attempts were made to contact Baran, but no response was received from them.

It is being told that Khatun Pakistan College is the residence of the Managing Authority Regional Director of Government Colleges of Karachi, Prof. Sulaiman Syal, and other officials who use the existing rooms or houses in this college for their residential use.

When “Express” contacted Regional Director Colleges Sindh Professor Sulaiman Syal to find out, he confirmed the residence of other officers including himself, Rashid Khoso and one more officer Shahani, however, he declared this residence legal.

He said that the former Secretary College Education had allotted him a regular accommodation using his authority, after which the house rent was deducted from his and Rashid Khoso’s salary, this accommodation was for teachers and officers.

However, when he was asked whether he was a part of the faculty of the same college that he was residing in, he could not give a satisfactory answer.

Meanwhile, despite confirmation from the Regional Director, Deputy Director Rashid Khoso denied the news circulating about her residence in Pakistan Women’s College.

It is to be remembered that Rashid Khosuki had confirmed the residence in a conversation with the Regional Director “Express”. It has been learned that after this matter was settled, the residence of two officers in the college has been locked.

On the other hand, in response to a question, Regional Director College Professor Suleiman Syal confirmed the residence of former Regional Director Colleges Karachi Professor Hafiz Bari Andar and some other officers in Government Degree College of Physical Education Gulistan Johar.

When Professor Bari Andar was inquired about his residence, Tuan said that he was living in a flat at Guru Mandir and had not taken up residence in any college, however, on further enquiry, he excused himself from commenting further.

It is being told that the residential rooms in the Physical Education College are reserved for visitors from other regions who want to come here for various educational activities, on which the said persons reside. It should be noted that Professor Bari Andar has recently been appointed Principal of Government SM Science College.

On the other hand, in the Education College established in Federal B Area Block 15, it has also been known that some people are living there, whose house rent is not being deducted and they are living in the quarters built in the college.

In this regard, the principal of the college Prof. Naveed Rab confirmed and said that we have informed the department regularly that such persons are living in the quarters of the college who are not even related to the college anymore.

Also, it is known that after the above issues came to light, the College Education Department is now considering to get the data of the government colleges of Karachi through a survey, which includes those living in house or quarter allotment and occupying the rooms by themselves. By doing this, the information of the people living can be obtained, after which some kind of action will be thought of.

Meanwhile, there are reports of the residence of a former officer of the College Education Department at Government Karachi Girls College Chand Bibi Road. Tried to contact the principal of the college several times in this regard but could not be contacted.
