Why are some people better at remembering dreams than others?

California: The ability to remember dreams varies from person to person. Some people have clear and detailed memories of their dreams, while others struggle to remember any aspect of their dreams.

Raphael Walt, a sleep and dream researcher and expert neuroscientist at the Neuroimaging Lab at the University of California, Berkeley, has presented his analysis in this regard. She says that our dream memories fade quickly when we wake up because our memory encoding is usually fragile.

Raphael said that remembering dreams after waking up is like holding on to sand. That is, it is very difficult to retain your dream memory, but for some reason some of us are better at remembering dreams than others.

Although science still has a long way to go in understanding dream memory, brain capacity, individual characteristics, and dream-related aspects seem to play an important role.

Here are some factors that make some people better at remembering dreams than others;

1) Characterize a positive lifestyle

If your inner self is quick to accept positives, including self-control, less curiosity about non-personal issues, and self-confidence, you may increase your dream recall.

2) Strong visual memory and creativity

People with excellent visual memory and high creativity can remember dreams more clearly.

3) Advanced cognitive ability

Good dream recall is associated with improved cognitive processes, cognition, learning and improved memory capacity enabling people to remember dreams.

4) Positive attitude towards dreams

Valuing dreams as meaningful experiences and having a positive attitude toward them can enhance dream recall, as it makes dream recall interesting and motivating.
