Lahore: The Punjab Governor challenged the decision of the single bench regarding the announcement of the election date in the Lahore High Court.
Advocate Shahzad Shaukat on behalf of Governor Punjab Balighur Rehman filed an application seeking interpretation of the Single Bench decision.
According to the petitioner, the Single Bench has ordered the Election Commission to consult the Governor regarding the date, but the Governor has no such constitutional authority and the Governor has not signed the dissolution of the Assembly.

It should be noted that two days ago the Governor of Punjab had decided to go to the Lahore High Court to explain the order of the election in the province.
On the order of Lahore High Court, regarding the date of elections in Punjab, the Election Commission delegation had also met Governor Punjab Balighur Rehman at Governor House Punjab. Chief Secretary and IG Punjab were also present on this occasion, who gave a briefing on the administrative and law and order situation in the province.
The Lahore High Court had ordered the Election Commission to announce the date of the election in Punjab and issue the notification after consulting the Governor.
