The Indian government was hesitant to issue visas to Pakistani journalists for coverage of the Cricket World Cup, but with the efforts of the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi, the Indian government has started issuing visas to Pakistani journalists.
According to sources, 200 Pakistani journalists had applied to the ICC for coverage of the World Cup matches, but only 45 Pakistani journalists were given accreditation letters. These journalists applied for Indian visas, but despite the start of World Cup matches, the Indian government seemed reluctant to grant visas to Pakistani journalists.
According to the sources, the charge d’affaires of the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi, Aizaz Khan, contacted the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
