Karachi: The Sindh High Court has ordered to block the identity cards of more than 50,000 fugitive accused.

The Sindh High Court, giving the task of arresting the absconding accused to the IG Sindh, ordered immediate blocking of identity cards, bank accounts and passports of more than 50 thousand absconding accused across the province.

The Supreme Court remarked that failure to arrest absconding accused is also a serious crime. No MN and AMPA will interfere in the arrest of the accused. The law and order situation in the province is bad due to the fugitive accused.

In front of a 2-member bench headed by Justice KK Agha, a hearing was held regarding the non-arrest of the accused Hamad Siddiqui and other absconding accused in the Baldia tragedy case. IG Sindh Rifat Mukhtar appeared before the court. The IG Sindh submitted the report regarding the absconding accused from across the province in the court.

The report of IG Sindh revealed that 50 thousand 58 accused are absconding across the province. The report stated that the number of fugitive accused in Larkana division alone is more than 23 thousand. The court was surprised to see such a large number of fugitive accused in the province of Sindh.

Justice KK Agha remarked that not arresting the fugitive accused is also a serious crime, at present there is no political government in the province, no MN and AMPA will interfere in the arrest of the accused. Due to such a large number of fugitive accused, the law and order situation in the province is bad.

The court inquired that there are 23,000 fugitive accused in Larkana division alone, what is DIG Larkana doing? IG Sindh said that I have taken charge 40 days ago. DIG Larkana has also been appointed recently. The court inquired from the IG Sindh that there will be any SOP or mechanism for the arrest of the fugitive accused. Justice KK Agha remarked that it is your responsibility to arrest the fugitive accused, we will not wait for another IG.

In most of the cases, the names, addresses, and parentage of the fugitive accused are not recorded correctly. In drug cases, only the accused is named. If administrative matters are improved, crimes can be reduced. Such a large number of absconders in Larkana division is beyond comprehension.

IG Sindh said that there are tribal and remote areas due to which such a large number of accused are absconding. Justice KK Agha said in his remarks that we also expect the caretaker government to assist in arresting the fugitive accused. IG Sindh said that efforts will be made to arrest the fugitive accused.

The court ordered to block the identity cards, bank accounts and passports of the fugitive accused across the province and sought a report. The court also ordered Chairman NADRA, Ministry of Home Affairs, Foreign Office and State Bank to submit a report by October 23.
