A 12-year-old boy was infected with polio in Khogyani district of Nangarhar province, Afghanistan.
According to the National Polio Laboratory Islamabad, the number of children affected by polio in Afghanistan this year has increased to 6.
Polio virus has also been confirmed in environmental samples in sewage water from different areas of Pakistan.
Officials say that due to the free movement between Pakistan and Afghanistan, the polio virus is present in both countries.
