The 7-day anti-polio campaign in Karachi will start from October 2.
A review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Salim Rajput, in which Coordinator EOC Irshad Sodhar, all Deputy Commissioners, representatives of World Health Organization, UNICEF and BMG participated.
The meeting was informed during the briefing that there is no polio case in Karachi at present. According to the environmental report, polio virus is present in two areas including Gujru, Gadap and Kemari municipality.
According to the briefing, more than 2.6 million children are targeted for polio vaccination from October 2. Children from six months to five years will be given vitamin A. Three and a half thousand personnel will perform duty during the anti-polio campaign.
