2,000-year-old baby shoe with laces found

Dernberg: A 2,000-year-old child’s shoe with the laces still tied has been discovered in Austria.

According to international media reports, the German Mining Museum cited the discovery as saying that the design of the leather shoe suggests that it was made in the second century BC.

Experts say that salt, which is especially good at preserving organic remains, kept the shoes in excellent condition.

“Our research activities at Durnberg have been providing us with valuable discoveries for decades to scientifically trace early mining activities,” said Professor Thomas Stollner, head of the German Mining Museum’s research department, in a news release.
