The results of the NED aptitude test opened the bastion of quality education in Sindh

Karachi: The NED University Aptitude Test has once again opened the fort of assessment standards in the province’s Quality Education and Education Boards, this year out of 10,882 candidates, only 6,533 passed.

“Express” obtained the details of the performance of education boards in recent year 2023 and last year 2022 NED University trend test results, in which the performance graph of education boards of Sindh has declined while other education boards of the country and leading private The performance graph of the boards is on the upward trend, but in the results, the performance of Inter Board Karachi in Sindh is much better than other boards in the province.

In this regard, according to the data obtained from the university, a total of 10882 candidates have participated in the recently conducted aptitude test of the year 2023 and 6533 have passed, the overall success ratio was 60%.

The results of the students of Federal Board, Aga Khan Board and Cambridge participating in the test are not less than 66% while all the education boards of Sindh except Karachi could not give results above 33% while their individual result rate is very disappointing.

Only 33% of the total 959 candidates who participated in the test after entering from Hyderabad Board have passed this test, similarly 25% of Sukkur Board, 19% of Larkana Board, 32% of Mirpurkhas Board and 25% of Nawabshah Board have passed the test. has passed this test.

However, 70 percent of Karachi Board candidates who participated in the test were successful, in this year’s test, the success rate of Federal Board students is 66 percent, Cambridge students’ passing rate is 84 percent and Aga Khan Board’s is 80 percent.

Year 2022 Results

In addition, in the year 2022, the performance of education boards of Sindh has deteriorated and the performance of other education boards was better.

Last year, only 25% of students from Hyderabad Board, 23% from Sukkur, 21% from Larkana Board, 20% from Mirpurkhas Board and 23% from Nawabshah passed the NED test. While Karachi Board results were 63%, Federal Board results were 78%, Cambridge 90% and Aga Khan Board 81% and last year overall result was 55%.

In the last 5 years, the Pakistan People’s Party was in power without participation in Sindh, during which the Department of School Education was twice with former Education Minister Sardar Shah and once with Saeed Ghani, while the Department of Universities and Boards was entrusted to Ismail Raho and the education boards were continuously Transfer postings remained inundated and key posts remained without permanent officers.

The effects of this continued to be seen in the inconsistency between the results of these boards in the examination results of students who passed with higher grades and the results of the same students in university entrance and aptitude tests.

In this regard, “Express” contacted Educationist and NED University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Sarosh Hashmat Lodhi and discussed with him the quality of education and assessment standards, which he said is the real problem in Sindh implementation. Of course, the curriculum is better, the decisions are also improved, but attention is needed in the application of these decisions.

He said that we have to see what we are delivering in the schools and what the children are doing in the exams.

It should be noted that along with the worst situation of quality of education in Sindh, the worst administrative situation in the examination boards is said to be the reason for this situation because during the tenure of the provincial government of the People’s Party that ruled Sindh for 5 years, the examination boards were the worst ad hoc. Be a victim of.

When the Chief Minister of the recently outgoing government handed over the administrative powers of the Education Boards to the Minister of Universities and Boards Department about 3 years ago, it dealt a severe blow to all efforts to improve the management of the Education Boards. felt

The matter of appointment of permanent chairmen in the boards which was in the final stages was initially subjected to unnecessary delay and later the matter went to court due to which these appointments could not be made.

The secretaries of the boards and the moderators of examinations were also appointed on ad hoc basis instead of permanent basis. A Chairman Board Khoo managed to get his appointment order from the court, he was just appointed in Larkana Board, but the officers and employees of Larkana Board turned against him on his actions and he started office work from home.

Recently, on the orders of Minister for Universities and Boards Ismail Rahu, he was transferred to Inter Board Karachi. “Express” contacted him and tried to find out what difficulties he faced to take these better steps after being posted in Larkana Board for a long time and why Larkana Board was also included in the list of education boards till now. Students pass the exam with better marks but tend to fail in aptitude test.

For all these questions, when Prof. Naseem Memon was contacted, he avoided discussing the matter and requested to be contacted later, but even after being contacted, he remained reluctant to discuss.

On the other hand, with the resignation of the government, Secretary Universities and Boards Murid Rahimo was also transferred. It was said that the secretary has an administrative limitation while in it I tried a lot to improve.

He said that many times I tried to improve but was vetoed from above, I sent summaries which remained at the level of the minister or chief minister, a position was given to a person in the Nawabshah Board who was not in the system but Summarized, nothing happened, the moderator of the exams has been sitting in a board for 8 years, when I removed it, the court called me.

It should be noted that as this government went, there were continuous exchanges on the orders of the Minister of Universities and Boards, if an ad hoc chairman was removed, another ad hoc one was installed in his place and this process continued till the end.
