Lahore: It has been revealed that the police are extracting the records of mobile calls of citizens for personal purposes and money.
According to the sources, important revelations have been revealed in the inquiry regarding the extraction of the records of mobile calls of citizens, according to which the police officials have been extracting call detail records (CDRs) for personal purposes and for money.
An inquiry was initiated after the incidents of officials assisting private individuals came to light, in which it was found that CDR rates were allocated by officials in favor of telecommunication companies. CDRs have been charged from Rs 2500 to Rs 5000.
According to police sources, CDRs have been being issued unnecessarily, apart from the investigation of cases. After the revelations, an inquiry has been started regarding how many CDRs have been issued since 2021. A 5-member inquiry committee will complete the report and submit it to the Additional IG for investigation.
It should be noted that CDRs are issued to investigate cases and reach the accused. Officials say that strict action will be taken against those who violate the SOP.
