Tripoli: The mayor of Darna, a city devastated by floods in Libya, Abdul Moneim al-Ghaithi, said that bodies are still being found during relief operations and according to our estimate, the number of casualties may be 18,000 to 20,000.

In an interview with al-Arabiya News, the mayor of Darna, Libya, Abdul Moneim al-Ghaithi, while informing about the relief work and the damage caused by the flood, said that more than 5,000 bodies have been found, while the actual number is double because most of them were killed by the relatives themselves. Buried and we have no record of it.

According to Mayor Abdul Moneim Al Ghaithi, the government has documented evidence of the disappearance of more than 10,000 people, but the actual number is much higher. We estimate that the death toll may be 18,000 to 20,000.

It should be remembered that the spokesman of the Ministry of Interior, Lt. Tariq Al Kharaz, told the media yesterday that 3,840 deaths have occurred so far, including 400 foreigners.

On the other hand, the Minister of Civil Aviation, Hachim Abu Chikwat, told Reuters that the death toll is more than 5,000, but this number may significantly increase and double.
