Lahore: Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi ordered the immediate opening of theaters across the province.
Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi presided over an important meeting in which it was decided to open theaters across Punjab, which have been closed for a month. In the meeting, it was also decided that theater plays will be closely monitored and action will be taken against any play that contains elements of obscenity and nudity.
Apart from this, a briefing was given on the proposed amendments in the 150-year-old Drama Act 1876. Earlier, officials of Punjab Artist Producer Association had met Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi in which they requested to open theatres.
The delegation told the Chief Minister that thousands of artists have become unemployed due to the closure of the theatre. In the meeting, Provincial Culture Minister Amir Mir gave a briefing to Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi. Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi allowed theaters to open while maintaining checks and balances.
