Colombo: Pakistan also whitewashed the series by defeating Afghanistan in the last ODI match.
Chasing 269 runs against Pakistan in the third ODI match, the entire Afghanistan team was bowled out for 209 runs in 48.4 overs. Mujeebur Rehman 64, Shahidullah 37 and Riyaz Hasan stood out with 34 runs.
On behalf of Pakistan, Shadab Khan got 3, Mohammad Nawaz, Faheem Ashraf and Shaheen Afridi got 2, 2 players out. Salman Ali Agha took one wicket. Pakistan won the series 0-3.
In the third and last ODI match of the series in Colombo, national team captain Babar Azam won the toss and decided to bat first. Pakistan scored 268 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 50 overs.
Muhammad Rizwan scored 67 runs and Babar Azam scored 60 runs. Opener Fakhar Zaman was dismissed on an individual score of 27 while Imamul Haq scored just 13 runs off 30 balls and fell victim to Gulbuddin Naib.
Saud Shakeel scored 9 runs, while Shadab Khan, who played an important role in Pakistan’s victory in the second ODI, returned to the pavilion after scoring 3 runs.
Mohammad Nawaz scored 30, Faheem Ashraf scored 2 runs and got out. For Afghanistan, Gulbuddin Naib and Farid Khan took two wickets each, while Fazlul Haq Mujibur Rahman and Rashid Khan took one wicket each.
4 changes were made in the playing XI of the national team for the last match. Saud Shakeel, Faheem Ashraf, Muhammad Nawaz and Muhammad Wasim Jr. got a chance while Iftikhar Ahmed, Osama Mir, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf were rested.
