Karachi: An application was filed in the Sindh High Court against the appointment of caretaker Chief Minister Sindh Justice Retired Maqbool Baqir.
In the Sindh High Court, the petitioner’s lawyer, Ibrahim Abro, took the stand in the petition that Justice Retired Maqbool Baqir retired from the Supreme Court of Pakistan on April 4, 2022. Under Article 207 of the Constitution, Justice Retired Maqbool Baqir cannot become caretaker Chief Minister.
It has been stated in the petition that Justice Retired Maqbool Baqir cannot be appointed to any lucrative or Caretaker Chief Minister post for 2 years.
The petitioner wrote that the appointment of Justice Retired Maqbool Baqir as the Caretaker Chief Minister of Sindh is a violation of Article 207 of the Constitution. The petition has requested that Justice Retired Maqbool Baqir be restrained from serving as caretaker Chief Minister.
