Islamabad: Supreme Court judge Justice Athar Manullah has remarked during the hearing of a case that the court is involved in many issues, do not confuse it with economic issues.

The case related to borrowing beyond the constitutional limit was heard by a 2-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan, in which the lawyer of the petitioner Dr. The constitutional petition was filed in 2020, the parties in the case, Hafeez Sheikh and Raza Baqir, have fled.

The Chief Justice remarked during the hearing that your case is that the Debt Limitation Act, 2005 has not been implemented?, to which the lawyer replied that the governments have violated the constitution by taking excessive loans.

Justice Athar Minullah remarked that the High Court should go to implement the Act. The country is suffering from severe economic problems.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan while speaking said that the point raised by you has weight. Why was so much debt taken in the country? . Visit the State Bank website to see how many loans were taken annually from 1947 till date. The country is facing a bad economic situation. This is not the best time for the court to hear such a request.

Justice Athar Munullah, talking to the petitioner’s lawyer, said that the suggestions you have given should be given to the federal government. Do not confuse the Supreme Court with economic issues. The court is already embroiled in many cases. The federal government is the relevant forum for looking at matters related to the economy.

The Chief Justice said that the petitioner should ask Dr. Zubair to create awareness among the people by writing in the newspaper on economic matters. The court adjourned the hearing of the case for an indefinite period while directing the counsel to take instructions from the petitioner Dr. Muhammad Zubair.
