Karachi: Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman threatened a train march towards Islamabad and a long sit-in at the Election Commission for not completing the process of municipal elections soon.

Although the local body elections are three weeks away, yet the electoral process has not been completed, the delay in the results and the non-release of the election schedule for the postponed 11 seats, a dharna was held at the Provincial Election Commission office under Jamaat-e-Islami on Saturday, in which Jamaat-e-Islami Workers and public participated in large numbers.

Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Hafiz Naeemur Rehman while addressing the protest has warned the Election Commission to immediately announce the election schedule in the postponed 11 USS and complete the election process otherwise there will be a train march against the Election Commission and elections. A long sit-in will be held at the Commission Office Islamabad.

Hafiz Naeemur Rahman said that if the Chief Election Commissioner wants Jamaat-e-Islami not to protest, then they should fulfill their constitutional responsibility, the three and a half million people of Karachi should not be deprived of their constitutional, legal and democratic rights. The representatives and the mayor should be given an opportunity to solve the problems of the people.

Hafiz Naeemur Rahman said that what kind of democratic system is this, in which one first struggles to hold elections and after that, if they win, they protect their votes and seats and demand their rights by protesting the Election Commission. The Governor of Sindh was present in Bahadurabad to prevent local body elections, he is still present there and making conspiracies.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that MQM is not in a position to hold a dharna or even a dharna, calling the governor of Sindh to postpone the dharna.

Hafiz Naeem said Election Commission should tell what is the fault of Karachi? Why not announced the results even after 26 days? The Election Commission has announced such by-elections of the National Assembly which are of no benefit to the country, but the local body elections are not being completed.
