The case of Pakistanis imprisoned in Libya;  Foreign Ministry spokesman's response

Islamabad: Spokesperson of the Foreign Office said that Ashiq Ali, Pakistan’s head of affairs in Libya, met the prisoners of Pakistani origin and provided food and basic necessities to the prisoners.

In response to media queries regarding Pakistanis detained in Benghazi, Libya, the spokesperson of the Foreign Office said that on the instructions of the Foreign Minister, the Pakistani Governor of Tripoli visited the detention center in Benghazi.

He said that the Governor of Pakistan Ashiq Ali met the prisoners of Pakistani origin and the prisoners were provided with food and basic necessities.

The spokesman said that our mission is in touch with the United Nations medical team for routine medical check-ups and supply of medicines to the detainees. The mission is also in touch with IOM for the early repatriation of these detainees.
