The Muslim country of Algeria has applied to join the BRICS group.
Algeria has also applied to become a shareholder member by depositing $1.5 billion in BRICS Bank.
According to a foreign news agency, Algerian President Abdel Majid Taboun, while ending his visit to China, said that we will join BRICS for new economic opportunities.
BRICS currently includes Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, this group accounts for 26 percent of the global economy.
President Majid Tabaun said that we have officially applied to join the BRICS group, we have sent a letter requesting to become a shareholder member in the bank.
This week, South Africa’s top diplomat said that more than 40 countries have expressed interest in joining the BRICS group.
Saudi Arabia, Iran, United Arab Emirates, Argentina, Cuba, Congo, Kazakhstan are among the few countries that want to become BRICS members.
