Advisor to Prime Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira has said that Shahbaz Sharif has started the consultation process for caretaker setup.
Talking in Geo Pakistan programme, he said that Shahbaz Sharif will consult the Leader of Opposition after the allies.
The leader of the People’s Party said that the Election Commission needs four months to delimit the constituencies, the Election Commission has already started working on the old census.
He said that the elections should be held on the old election rules, if the political parties think the reforms are better, they should enact legislation immediately after consultation.
Qamar Zaman Kaira opposed the appointment of any judge, general, bureaucrat, technocrat or journalist as caretaker prime minister and said that until the new census is notified, there is no idea of new constituencies, only politicians can run political positions. Yes, this is their job, the highest political position of the country is that of the Prime Minister.
They say that if a judge, general, bureaucrat, technocrat, journalist or an employee of the corporate sector is appointed to the post of Prime Minister, it is a disgrace to the post and cannot work.
He said that if the seat of a judge in the High Court or the Supreme Court is vacant, if a person like me is appointed as a judge, then what justice can be done there. Otherwise, he will not be able to work.
Qamar Zaman Kaira says that the Prime Minister’s office has many responsibilities, whether it is the Prime Minister, Ministers or Chief Ministers, political people should come, these paths should not be opened for others.
