Sanaa: In response to the desecration of the Koran in Sweden, the Houthis have imposed a ban on the import of Swedish products.
The international media has reported with reference to Al-Masira television channel of the Houthis that the Minister of Commerce of the Houthis, Muhammad Sharif Al-Motahar, has said that the decision to ban the import of Swedish products was made on July 4, which has come into effect since July 8.
The Houthi Minister of Commerce said that after the desecration of the Quran, Yemen has become the first country to ban the import of goods from Sweden. He also urged other Muslim countries to follow suit and stop importing goods from Sweden.
The Houthi government’s trademark department has drawn up a list of 30 Swedish agencies and 100 brands that will be boycotted.
The Houthi Minister of Commerce said that after the decision to ban the import of Swedish products was approved by the Council of Ministers, a committee has been formed to implement it.
Speaking on state television, Houthi leader Syed Abdul Malik said that if Muslim countries unanimously boycott Sweden, it can have a significant impact, from which others will also learn a lesson.
He said that the minimum response to the desecration of the Quran is to end diplomatic relations with Sweden and boycott it economically.
